Kinda Finished?
Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 1:45AM Back at the helm!
Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11:23PM It has been a long time since I have posted an update, thankfully it is not due to lack of work - quite the opposite infact. The past few months have provided a constant stream of contract based work and it is great to be able to use the skills I have learned within a production environment - as well as the opportunity learn from other artists/visualists.
I have really been concentrating on lighting and rendering during my free time. I am very confident with my modelling/texturing skills but still need to crack photo-realism. I am planning a room scene similar to the previous interior I have posted (modern, clean and very open).
Here is a test render with some quick post work, it's not quite the full resolution but now that I am happy with the lighting and over all feel I can move forward additional propping to give the place more character and make the shot a little more interesting.![]()

A few tweaks to the framing of the shot and a couple of modifications to the lighting. I'll get to propping for a final shot soon ; )
Modern Interior Animation
Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11:06PM Here is a short animation of my most recent interior project. It still needs a z-depth pass to produce depth of field. As with most of my renders I try to mimic how a camera views the world, all the little anomalies can disguise a lot of blatent CG features and help produce a convincing 3d scene. The V-ray physical camera is fantastic for this, it has a plethora of settings to tweak so I will be spending some time to properly get to grips with all of the features.

AE Particles
Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 5:41PM Here is a quick test of a fun After Effects plug-in called AE Flame. I need to spend a little more time with it but it's fairly easy to get some great looking results.

Modern interior
Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 3:02PM Moving swiftly on from my introduction to modelling with 3dsMax I decided to create another interior scene. In the past I have always made rooms with a little wear and tear to achieve an aged look, this time I am trying to create an interior with a very modern design.
The room is far from finished but most of the major objects in the shot have been modelled, I will add a few small ornaments and place a flatscreen tv into the wall fixture at a later date. Again this is an exercise in lighting/shader configuration above anything else - the aim is to create a photorealistic interior so there will be a lot of refinements to be made.
Here is a WIP render of the shot in its current state.

Interior modelling has finished and the lighting has changed slightly to give a little bit of a warmer look to the final shot. I am pretty pleased with how the final render has turned out, i'll more than likely do some alternate angles to give a few different perspectives on the scene.
The next step is to light the scene at night so that the scene itself will only be lit via the artificial lights present within the room.
